Every diamond is as unique as a snowflake— but some diamonds are even more unique than others. In this post, we’re celebrating some of the most unique and spectacular diamonds ever discovered by counting down the top ten most expensive diamonds ever sold.
Generally, all of the world’s most expensive diamonds are sold at auctions (though, some may be sold privately— we just wouldn’t know about them), and their price tags are higher than what most people would make in a hundred years. So, after counting down the ten most expensive diamonds of all time, we’ll also take a look at some expensive and unique diamond studs that are ultra luxurious, but still something you could feasibly purchase.
Now, on with the list of the ten most expensive diamonds ever sold!
The Ten Most Expensive Diamonds of All Time
10. The Perfect Pink Diamond
Price: $23.8 Million
The Perfect Pink Diamond certainly lives up to its name. This 14.23 carat emerald cut fancy pink diamond is the picture of perfection. And the most recent buyer of this diamond clearly agrees, as they paid a hefty $23.8 million for it at a 2010 Christie’s Hong Kong auction.
9. Winston Blue Diamond
Price: $23.8 Million
Everything about the Winston Blue Diamond is notable, though its biggest claim to fame is that it is the world’s largest flawless vivid blue diamond. This flawlessly gorgeous 13.22 carat diamond sold for $23.8 million when it was purchased by Harry Winston at Christie’s in 2014.
8. The 101
Price: $26.7 Million
The 411 on The 101 is that this colorless pear shaped diamond gets its name from its carat weight: 101.73. Here’s another big number that’s tied to The 101: $26.7 million, which is how much it sold for at Christie’s in 2013.
7. Sweet Josephine Pink Diamond

6. An Unnamed 118.28 Carat Diamond
Price: $30.6 Million
You would think that the largest diamond ever publicly sold would get a fun nickname like the other diamonds on this list, but that’s just not the case. At a Christie’s auction in 2013, this unnamed 118.28 carat colorless oval cut diamond sold for $30.6 million. Though it’s nameless, this diamond will leave you breathless.

The Princie Pink Diamond, a 36.45 carat fancy pink diamond, was discovered quite a long time ago, over 300 years ago in India’s world famous Golconda Mine. 3. Graff Vivid Pink Diamond
